2013 Mini Cooper S with an official Mini JCW Tuning Kit installed by a dealer. The engine is the much more reliable and improved N18 engine (the earlier N14 engines have been known to have quite a few problems that took Mini a few years to sort out).
The car still has until Jan 23rd on the maintenance plan, which covers a lot of things, including oil changes, brakes and the clutch. The car also has the remainder of the 2 year engine warranty until February (see below).
I bought this car in late 2016 with 16k miles from Missouri from a guy who had replaced and upgraded almost every component on the car with the higher end JCW or GP components. The car was originally a red Cooper S with a white roof and then he added the White/Red Dual stripes up the center and the R53 checker pattern on the doors to make it look like the popular Mini Challenge race car series (of which he did an amazing job). He also re-did the interior to the highest trim level (this was his 12th interior he had done on a Mini and this was his 25th Mini Cooper he had owned, so he had quite the vision on what he wanted). He did a great job because it has no squeaks or rattles that I've noticed.
In total, I have $32,420 dollars in receipts in these upgraded parts for the car between myself and the previous owner. Along with this, there are a lot of things that I don't have receipts, including the R53 Checkers, a new front window(had a crack in it when the previous owner bought it), the additional carbon on the steering wheel, or any of the labor.
To add to this, at 22k miles the engine was replaced due a mistake of someone not clipping a coolant line back where it should of been and it rubbed through on the transmission bell housing, letting all of the coolant out. I ended up overheating it going down the highway, so Mini put a brand new engine in it under warranty. I'm guessing the parts cost at least $8-10k, but probably a lot more with the labor.
This N18 Engine has variable valve lift and no throttle butterfly, which improves power and fuel economy. I have a 100 mile round trip commute and I would regularly see 40-42 mpg in the summer. The added GP full aero under tray and spoiler reduces drag, so this helps fuel economy as well, along with the car being ~150 lbs lighter weight compared to a normal JCW Mini. As you can tell, I put a lot of highway miles on this car in two years going to work. I've also taken it on a few road trips, including 1500 miles to the Tail of the Dragon in North Carolina.
The only major modification (and non-OEM part on the car) I have done has been to install a Quaife QDF38Z-2 limited slip differential. This transformed the way the car comes out of a corner and can put all of the power down. In 2011, Mini stopped offering a real LSD as an optional extra and started using electronic braking instead (which is terrible). I had this professionally installed and it has a lifetime warranty on it. It is a torsen diff, so there are no clutch plates to wear out and it is perfectly smooth when transferring torque to the non-slipping wheel.
The car has brand new wheel bearings, brake rotors, brake fluid and pads, along with a full service and oil change done by Classic Mini of Cleveland. While there, I also had a hose going to the thermostat replaced, so it has all new coolant. It's had its other service intervals performed as well per Mini guidelines, including new spark plugs and the JCW airfilter.
The car comes with two sets of wheels. The summer tires are on the Mini Challenge wheels with 225/45/17 BFGoodRich G-Force Rival S 1.5 tires and the winters are 205/45/17 Yokohamas. The car is very capable at driving through snow since it has the limited slip differential and 65% of the weight on the front drive tires. On the summer tires, this is hands down one of the best handling Mini Coopers you can buy.
As you can see in the photos, the previous owner made the modifications to match the GP on the inside, with the rear seat removal and added red strut bar. He also upgraded the suspension and brakes to the JCW specific parts. After driving this for 2 years, I can't imagine owning a GP with its suspension and the corresponding 50% stiffer springs and/or 18 rims. He also added in the Mini Recaro seats, which are amazing. They are fully adjustable and have heated seats. He also had the supports on the rear wing painted white to match the Mini Challenge theme. The wing is carbon fiber and from the GP.
The car has the typical suite of electronics inside of the car, including a USB port, Bluetooth and optional Sirius satellite radio. It has easy to use buttons on the steering wheel for the cruise control and radio. The heater and A/C controls are easy to use as well.
The car has not been in any accidents or been painted in any way. The car has no rust and the full under tray does a good job at protecting everything. I took pictures of the small scrape by the door handle and small paint chip on the tail gate that I sealed to make sure it doesn't get any worse. It is inspected in PA until 9/2019 with a clean title in hand. I'm selling the car because I just bought a BMW M3 and I don't need this any more.
