Highly custom Evo X meant to maintain a stock appearance with many new amenities added. I used this car for travel with my job every now and then and wanted a comfortable and enjoyable daily driver. This has been my favorite car, and one of my best purchases. I spent a lot of money on this car, but my life has changed and I am in need of something more efficient. I made this car for me, so I understand it isn’t for everyone. This car has never been raced, never been dragged, never tracked and it was lightly launched once on the factory clutch. I want this car to go to someone who will appreciate it and enjoy it the same that I did, and still do. There’s something special about it and sitting in it makes you feel like nothing or no one can stop you. There’s a lot to go over so I broke it down based on exterior and interior.
Interior:
-Dynamat Sound deadening top-to-bottom. This makes the car both incredibly quiet inside, while also keeping heat out in the summer months and heat in the cabin in the winter months.
-Door panels have been reupholstered in Blue Suede and with extra padding for a comfy elbow pad. Door speakers are upgraded from Factory Rockford Fosgates to a high-end Rockford Fosgate mid and separate tweeter setup. The new tweeter was fitted into the factory tweeter housing and was then wrapped in leather to provide better sound and a cleaner appearance.
-Floor mats have been swapped to the “Final Edition Evolution” mats that are black with Red Piping.
-Doors also have “Mitsubishi Ralliart” rubber mats in them that make cleaning a breeze and keep things quiet and from rolling around.
-AC controls have been pulled out and had the LEDs replaced with blue (and red within the climate portion to match temperature).
-Lower cubby in center console has been replaced with the 2012 and newer cubby with covers.
-Shift boot replaced with blue suede.
-Short throw shifter installed.
-Aftermarket pedals installed for better grip (black powder-coated with pyramid style grips).
-Center console lid has been replaced with a thicker padded and adjustable (forward and backward)lid that is two leveled (two different tiers to open) and is leather wrapped and stitched.
-In 08 the steering wheel didn’t have music control and phone control, but the wire was there to support it so I added that as well. The AWC button on the wheel has been moved to the lower left button bank just below the steering wheel right next to the traction control button (why it wasn’t there from the factory is beyond me).
-Center console also has a button bank in it that includes a switch for some interior lights below the seats in the back and a light bar switch, as well as a dual USB port charger.
-In the center console there is a USB and HDMI hookup for the head unit.
-Rear speakers replaced with Alpine high end tweeter and mid all-in-one.
-Under the Passenger seat there is a 5 channel 1200 watt class D amp. Wire is under carpeting and is installed to the battery.
-Head-unit is a kenwood DDx770 that supports Apple Carplay and Android auto. Tons of EQ options.
-Two dashcams installed and wires tucked away and hidden. One front and one back. Both 1080p 60fps. One is a stealth box and the other is in a Vantrue N1 style.
-Radar detector. Escort Passport with Bluetooth. Wiring is hidden and out of way. There is a silence button and alert light that is wired up on the steering column in line of sight to make alerts noticeable if you have them silenced.
-Electronics are on their own separate fuse so they aren’t wired into anything else.
-Extra padding of dynamat fat mat in the back trunk area to prevent exhaust noise (the exhaust is loud and I would say replace it at some point for better daily use, but it makes a nasty (in a good way) sound).
-Aftermarket amp works in conjunction with the factory one which is still used for the sub. I did wire the after market into the factory amp to provide an on off switch for both so they don’t drain the battery.
-The grab handle above the driver was absolutely useless so I replaced it with a sunglasses holder.
-LED lights throughout the car to replace incandescent bulbs.
-Fire extinguisher mounted in trunk (not for track, I just live in Cali and am a freak about fires).
-Ralliart seatbelt covers.
-I also have a custom gauge cluster shroud that looks factory but has two integrated 52mm slots for gauges (one is being used for WideBand).
-Custom fitted roll-able sun visor
Exterior:
-Red mudflaps.
-Front Mitsubishi logo wrapped in red
-Rear logo Plasti dipped in red.
-Mitsubishi and Lancer logos removed.
-Roof rack
-Wheels are plasti dipped so it can come right off.
-Pilot super sport tires with only about 5k miles on them. They are also certificated so if you puncture or they get damaged you can have them replaced for free or reduced cost.
-Roof is wrapped in carbon fiber vinyl. (It makes the cabin hotter than normal but not as hot as it was without the dynamat).
-Suspension is stock.
-AEM intake with CARB stamp (if that matters)
-AEM front Mount intercooler with ETS upper intercooler piping
-Injector Dynamics 1000cc injectors
-Walboro 255 fuel pump
-Hallman Manual Boost Controller
-ETS catted down pipe
-ETS high flow catalytic converter
-TopSpeed Pro 1 exhaust (it’s amazing and sounds incredible, but it’s now become way too loud for me. Personally for the best daily and feel I would get something with a resonator and maybe a muffler as the freeway drone is definitely there.)
-Clutch Master Stage 3 clutch (race clutch, fairly heavy, but not the worst) good for up to 500WHP. When this was installed I had them bleed the master cylinder that is also for brakes and filled it with Motul (I have a couple bottles)
-At some point the heavy clutch caused the factory master cylinder to break (they made it out of plastic) so I replaced it with an all aluminum unit.
-In line fuel filter installed (the factory doesn’t have one before the engine. There is one after the engine that is known to clog up (mine did and I had it cleaned less than 200 miles ago).
-AWC pump has been replaced (they were known to fail on the first year Evos.)
-Car also comes with Snow Chains (actually snow cables).
-A lot of the engine work has been done by EQ Tuning a super reputable shop that does amazing quality work and tunes. Recently the car went in to them for a bunch of little upkeep items:
New Fuel pressure regulator, O2 sensor, compression test (passed amazingly, can provide invoice if you want), full smoke test for any leaks in the air, turbo, engine and exhaust, boost test, cleaned injectors. The car is dual mapped for both 91 and E85. 91 is making 308HP and 335LbFt of torque. E85 makes 380HP and 425LbFt of torque… It makes it on 30Lbs of boost and I had it tuned very conservatively (both emissions and longevity in mind, no the irony of emissions is not lost on me). I had my car tuned in late November (a time I felt was a great mix of weather and would make for a great all around tune). Oil has been replaced every 5000 miles MAX and always with Mobil 1 oil and Mobil 1 filter. Spark plugs have been replaced within 7000 miles as has the transmission been flushed and the AWC pump been refilled.
Reservoirs are constantly checked and I am meticulous with this car.. I was planning to keep this thing forever. Honestly selling it has taken me a long time simply because I don’t want to see it go. I have done so much with this car since I first bought it. I will never forget test driving it and thinking I was going to buy the Sti… The car scared me and I went so fast around it’s first corner on accident I thought for sure I was going to mess it up, but it carried me through and I laughed so hard at its seeming ability to defy physics… I have taken this car everywhere, it went on multiple trips to Yosemite, up to the sierras in snow on summer tires (boy was that so much fun!) and went around the whole western half of the country on a 4500 mile trip up highway 1 and back down from eastern Washington.. I made a lot of memories in this car, picked up so many friends for coffee and made so many people happy with the quirky stickers and ridiculousness of the car. It’s always been very clean on the inside, no pets or smoking.. not even vaping…. Everyone knew when I was coming and going, my car is iconic and not to be missed, but it will definitely be missed by me. I don’t think any of this text will talk you into this car, but I hope it gives you an idea that it wasn’t a car owned by someone who just made it gaudy and was a typical “import fan.” I truly appreciated this car, its capability and the wonderful engine and transmission pairing it has. I hope that whoever wants to buy this feels the same way about it I do. If you have any questions or want any pictures or anything please let me know.
