A true 6spd !!! Extremely hard to find. Bmw really should have made more than 2% of the 5series with a clutch. Having that extra control really suits this car. With very tight suspension and steering, along with an improved throttle response this car handles Great on the country roads of northwest NJ.
I installed a rubber elbow behind to front grill to to divert and push Air into the intake.(look at pic) This Mod really seems to increase HP and MPG.now up to 32mpg. I made vent holes in the elbow so water can drain in heavy rain. (which I have driven in, and it works fine) The other Mod is,, I Removed the clutch delay valve which slows the clutch plates on engaging, to help protect the drive line, but it also wares the clutch faster. That is a big plus Not to have the CDV in the clutch line!! I would rate this clutch as Excellent, in that it really feels New, in all aspects. That is not an exaggeration.
I also painted all 4 calipers Yellow,, and they really look great. I never drove it in Snow or the aftermath of a storm in the wet salt roads. There is No rust any where, it is a Very clean car. It also has a ski bag in the back seats, which both fold down, which is real handy. The Interior is perfect, no fading or tears any where.
If you know Beemers than you understand that almost every one of them have their problems, and none are perfect. Its a matter of how bad the problems are. This car is above average in that I would rather keep it, because she is very fun to drive,, but for personal reasons, I must pass her on.
These 5series have their glitches. One being it does consume some oil, about 1/2qt per 500mi. Which isnt that bad, instead of doing an oil change, you just add as you go. The other is a Slight hesitation in 3rd gear over 3.5k Rpm, only going uphill,, but a feather of the throttle eliminates that. Most 5series have this. Cant get the washer to work, and the above light wont go on, and only the front door locks work automatically. Thats all I have seen wrong. Which is Way more than I was told when I bought it.
I have also changed the plugs 3k ago, NGK,, and the Crankcase Vent Valve 2k ago.
This and the 2005 are the LAST Beemers with a Dipstick !!!! Not sure about you, but I always want to Know exactly how much oil is in the Engine.
The 2 Deer Screamers mounted on the front grill go with the car. I put these on when I bought it, and have seen 3 deer stop and look as I drive by. They really work. (www.deerscreamer.com) $30 value.
If you didnt know what year this car is, it could easily pass for an 2008, its very clean in and out, with just one scratch under the gas port, which cant be seen, only up close. You are welcome to come inspect and drive the car.
I will help with shipping. 07422 is 35mi north west of NYC. No International Sales.
