Until recently this was a 9 or 9.5 / 10 example of a limited production 3000GT VR4 Spyder. Unfortunately the car had a blowout which caused a spin into the highway concrete barrier. Step-son and I were going to take on as a project, however he has a newborn so no longer has the time to commit. The car can be repaired or used as a donor itself. Still in possession of clear blue Texas title.
Now in need of structural repairs from the cowl forward, and rear bumper/support bar/ bumper shock (driver side). All structural parts needed (rails,apron,cowl,cross members,etc) are available from dealer for approx $2500 (before shipping). Easiest reconstruction would be to locate a good donor VR4 with good body panels and structure.
Convertible top is fully functional and has good weather stripping. Car interior (outside of airbag deployment) is a 9/10. Stock except for aftermarket radio equipped with Bluetooth.
A local body shop reviewed the car and provided me with a $3000 estimate. This was conditional, had to bring car with engine/trans removed and bring a donor parts car (complete with good parts). Estimate covered repairs of replacement of front ends, rear bumper parts and other as needed bodywork touches and paint, but doesn't include engine removal/installation or other misc parts which will be required (even with a donor car there will still be more required).
Mitsubishi only manufactured the 3000GT Spyder convertibles for two years (1995, 1996) making it very rare. Less than 900 total Spyder VR4s were in the USA. This car would be 1 of roughly 325 produced in this color combination for 1995. These cars were technologically advanced for the day (and still today). so the popularity due to its rarity and collect ability. This is a guaranteed future classic with lots of technology for the time. Just research the vehicle on-line and you will see. Not your average car, probably one of the most complex cars of its time.
There is a $500 deposit required (PayPal) within 72 hours or immediate if Buy It Now. The deposit is broken down into a refundable and non-refundable portion. There is a $100 non-refundable portion of the deposit to cover expenses related to relisting of the the vehicle. The remaining $400 is refundable if after inspection you decide not to purchase.
