Beautifully Restored 1974 Volvo 142 GL (Grand Luxe), 2 Dr, 5 seat, 4 Sp Auto, PS, Inline 4 Cyl Engine. Estimated 17/24 MPG, 188k original miles but considerable engine work performed. These engines are made very solid and quite often last till 300k or even more! It didn't need a complete engine overhaul but we did much of the same work within the scope of a overhaul like replacing the cam shaft and water pump, changing head gaskets plus other engine work outside the scope like changing out the fuel injection, starter, etc. A more detailed list included below. No known major mechanical issues. Runs great! A considerable amount of bodywork performed, as well as new paint applied. We also changed out the interior seating and carpet. Stored in a covered bay and hardly driven before and after bodywork was done and new paint applied. A classic 70s era Volvo with a modern streamline body for long term appeal. A real head turner and not your run of the mill mass produced common vanilla type car. An increasingly rare model car, especially in this condition and price! Must sell due to illness in family. Clean title on hand.
Interior Body: Removed old carpet and installed new Taupe carpeting atop the thick rubber sealer that was applied to the floorboards to create a smoother ride and air tight seal. Installed Taupe seats in vg condition from other vintage Volvo. Interior roof clean with no blemishes, tears or signs of any past or present leaks. All original glass manual windows in vg condition with no chips or cracks. Applied new seals around inside of windows, doors, hood and trunk. Original AM/FM radio, dash components, heater and interior lights, all working last tested. Dash in gc except 2 cracks that are hardly noticeable especially from front or rear seated position. Mostly noticeable if if you view from standing over top. Drivers side door panel torn but could be replaced by buyer.
Exterior: Restored body with multi stage bodywork that included; several stages of sanding, filling, primer, paint, etc. New paint color is California Orange. Similar but not identical to the original Orange paint color which is a darker shade of Orange and still shows in a few certain inconspicuous areas like around the inside of the engine compartment, and inside trunk lid and trunk. Underside of trunk lid is painted with original orange color and primer along edges. Inside trunk had some rust so it was repaired and finished off with a bolted metal plate, trunk interior completely covered with a black sealer and new trunk seals installed around inside trunk lid to help ensure it remained sealed and dry, with no leaks. Very little rust on undercarriage. Ziebart still intact. Replaced bumper, some lights and covers.
Engine & Mechanics: Changed following: Oil pump, starter, fuel lines, dual pressure regulators in the fuel line, spark plugs, fuel pump, cam and lifters, battery, wipers, brake pads, caliper, fuel injection carburetor to a new Weber B20 Carb with electric choke for better gas efficiency and a more efficient, less finicky start. Changed head gasket set for following: (cylinder head, water pump, transmission, valve cover gasket, oil pump). Gas tank cleaned, sealed with POR--15, valves adjusted, changed filter and transmission. Tested power steering, brakes, headlights, tail lights, hazards, front and rear defrost.
Removed parts such as the original fuel injection carb, front bucket and back bench seating, etc. may be included in the sale depending on the price and negotiation. Inquire prior to purchase if interested in these original parts.
