Here is a 1974 Alfa Romeo Spider. I acquired this car from an older Italian guy who had an Italian car business. He owned it for 30+ years. This car is the epitome of a survivor. The car spent its entire life in Southern California. It was driven sparingly, but it was driven. It's very rare to find an old Alfa in such nice original condition. Probably the prettiest unrestored Alfa you'll find.
The car is stock, with one exception. When he rebuilt the engine, he put big valves in the head, put in a European cam and added dual Weber 40DCOE carbs. The combination makes this car much quicker than stock.
The condition of the car is as follows:
Body: Absolutely excellent. There has never been hit or had any repairs, even to the nose. It has had an older repaint that has held up amazingly well. It is 95% rust free, with a couple of bubble spots on the trunk lid and minor rust on the floor. Very easy fix. Body gaps all excellent.
Brightwork: The chrome trim is in excellent shape with no damage. There is nothing that needs replacement. The bumpers are perfect.
Wheels: Stock 14 steel with the sombrero center Alfa Romeo hub. They are in perfect shape. The spare is a stock Campagnolo.
Exhaust: Stock, with original manifold.
Interior: Excellent condition. Windows function fine, as do door handles. All gauges work fine and seem to be accurate. Oil pressure is fine. Water temp is stable and the fuel gauge WORKS! The upholstery is excellent and needs nothing. The original rubber mats are complete and excellent. The dash has 2 small cracks. The door panels are fine, except the chrome tape is peeling a bit, as usual. The center console is original and in good shape. There is no radio. I can include a modern Retro radio if desired. (google it!)
Convertible top: Perfect cloth top. It's fitted properly, seals tight with a clear rear plastic window. Needs nothing. A factory hard top is available, if desired.
Lights & lenses: All perfect.
Gearbox: Shifts fine. No syncro issues at all. Fresh gearbox oil.
Engine: With the above noted exceptions, everything is stock. I haven't dynode it, but I'm told it runs at 150-160 HP. It idles fine, with no smoking. The Webers are jetted for Los Angeles sea level. The distributor has the Marelli electronic modifications.
Recent work: The carbs have just been rebuilt, The driveshaft has been rebuilt with new donuts, u-joints and center support bearing, Transmission mount replaced and new stock brake lines. Installed emergency hood and trunk release cables.
Work needed: Probably shocks and some suspension bushings. Heater core, if desired. New turn signal stalk. Minor rust repair.
I have a clean California title in my name.
