This 1969 El Camino is a real SS 396. However, a previous owner installed a 454 c.i. motor bored to 468 c.i. It retains the 396 cam. It has an Edelbrock square port intake manifold, a 750 cfm Quadrajet carb. It has ceramic coded hooker headers, custom duals with crossover pipe. A centerforce clutch connects to the Doug Nash 5 speed transmission which has a hurst shifter. Moroso 12 bolt rear end with 3.55 gears was installed and beefed up axles. It has factory disc brakes upfront and drums on rear. The suspension and brakes were gone through and new parts used where necessary. A new set of radials are riding on chrome rallye wheels from a 67 Corvette.
I have owned it for 17 years. During that time it has always been garaged and I have put less than 10,000 miles on it. About nine years ago a restification was completed which included: replacing rear quarter panels, sanding and smoothing entire truck, repaint, replacing bumpers, badging, grill and some trim pieces. The radio is am/fm with cassette player. The interior was stripped, sound deadening used, new carpet, new door panels, new headliner, dash cluster, clock, tilt column and custom shift mount. It was originally a bench seat car, but now has buckets which were recently reupholstered. It has factory air that has been upgraded and has new compressor.
