eBay 1965 MG MGB
Originally British Racing Green, one repaint since new in red was done by a previous owner. Great driver quality car or excellent candidate for restoration.
I found this car in central Florida and purchased it as a fun driver and possible future restoration project. Problem is I have too many project cars and not enough time so this one has to go. The car is complete and seems to be well-maintained. It was stored for a long time in a hangar at a local airport. The previous owner ran and drove the car regularly on the airport property. Odometer reads just over 70,000 and was represented to me as original mileage. Based on condition of car it seems reasonable. Speedometer and odometer work properly. Florida title reads exempt as is the case with old cars in Florida.
This MGB is in good overall condition. Starts right up and runs, drives, and stops as it should. Lights, instruments, etc. all work properly. The engine is very clean has good oil pressure and doesn't run hot. No smoke, leaks, or noise. The transmission shifts smoothly through all gears, clutch is tight, and the brakes work fine. Steering is tight. Tires have good tread but are old and flat-spotted from long-term storage. Ok for driving locally but I wouldn't take it on a long trip on these tires. The paint is an older repaint in red over the original British racing green. The green is still visible under the back seat area, areas of the trunk, etc. Paint shines nicely and I would consider it good driver quality but certainly not show quality. Outer body panels show no rust or collision damage. Trunk floor is in excellent condition with no rust. There are some areas of rust in the floors and one inner rocker. Nothing major, all in areas where replacement metal is available. Original battery trays have some rust. Car is converted to 12 Volt and battery is in trunk. Glass is all in good condition, side windows go up and down properly. Bumpers are straight and no real pitting but chrome doesn't shine like new. Other chrome, emblems, mirrors are in good shape. Side trim is all straight, one piece has a minor ding. Light lenses, etc. are all in good shape. Interior dash pad is in good shape. Seats are nice with no tears in vinyl. Carpet is nice. Door panels look to be original and are in decent shape. Passenger door opens and closes nicely, driver door opens and shuts but needs to be lifted to shut completely. Probably an adjustment or needs a new bushing in the hinge. Hood and trunk, excuse me, bonnet and boot open and shut nicely.
Overall this is a nice, complete, running and driving MGB. 1965 is a desirable year and this car's original color is desirable British Racing Green as well. Looks good in red but for the purist should go back green if restored. Good news is everything is there. Outer body, frame, etc. is in great shape and rust issues are not bad for a car this age and not nearly as bad as some I've seen. Everything to repair is available from Moss motors.

Thanks for looking and happy bidding!
Had a couple of questions regarding the engine number and if the car has the original engine. The British gentleman I bought the car from did tell me that the engine in the car had never been out or changed, and it is the original 3-main bearing engine. I can't confirm this because I'm just not familiar enough with MG engine numbers. The number plate on the side of the engine appears to read BGA-U-H 12646 (from a photo of the engine)
After listing the car I had to travel out of town for business. I will be back and able to confirm the engine number and take a close up photo on Saturday afternoon and will revise this posting if necessary.
Again, thanks for the questions and for looking, this is a solid car and it doesn't appear that the engine has ever been out.
