The original canvas convertible top is shot, but the top frame is in excellent condition. Everything is there. The car is complete.
The wipers, all lights, turn signals and horn work as they should. Original color was Ivory with red leather.
Car # HDP46/8305
The car is offered as a solid, straight, running and driving, original 1955 MG TF 1500 that is in need of a good home. Those of you who prefer patina, will think twice about painting this TF. It has a great look.
What has been done since we took possession of this 55 TF. We have hand washed the car, drained the old fuel, removed the fuel pump, filed the fuel pump points and lubricated the fuel pump's moving parts and checked it's operation. Checked that the fuel lines are clear and clean, Checked and cleaned the carburetors, Installed new Champion N5C spark plugs, gapped to .024, Changed the oil filter and oil with Castrol, Installed a good battery, Checked the distributor points gap and function, Checked the radiator and coolant condition and level.
We added fresh fuel, pulled the choke, turned the key, listened for the fuel pump to get a bite of fuel, double checked the lines for leaks and confirmed the float chambers were filling and the floats floating, gave the throttle a couple of pumps and pulled the starter knob. She started and idled well with good oil pressure and no leaks.
The clutch and gearbox were checked for proper operation and found to work as they should. The brakes work, but need attention.

The correct XPEG cylinder head is in place, however, the block has the MG octagon casting on the left side. I was informed that the blocks with this casting were 52 or earlier 1250 blocks. Not uncommon, but not the block she was born with.

“Solid and straight. Solid frame with zero rust. 4 cyl, 4-Speed Manual Gearbox. Straight body with old paint, patina. Original old leather originally red, but had been dyed black and you can see where the black half is wearing off to reveal the original red leather underneath. The car runs and drives. The clutch and gearbox are very good, the brakes are weak. The glass is good, the chrome showing age, but all there. The original side curtains are in good condition, but the soft top is tatty to say the least. The top frame is very nice. Good oil pressure, and the engine starts easily. Needs complete restoration of paint, chrome and trim, but she's all there. The undercarriage is excellent. Please request photos, I will be glad to take photos of any area you like. Thank you, Darren”
