Thanks for looking at our 1937 Studebaker Dictator. This car belonged to my father-in-law who passed away last year. He loved this old Studey and our family affectionately nick named it the “mafia car”.
It’s powered by a 1981 4.1L Buick V6. The interior, including the seats, power locks and windows, instrument cluster, steering column, and I believe front clip are also from the Buick doner car. The cruise control even works.
The overall condition is very good for an 81 year vehicle. As you can see from the pictures there is some surface rust on the underside, with the worst place being between the gas tank and rear of car. I have not found any places where it is rusted through. There are some scratches on the passenger side rear fender. (See picture).
The Dictator drives very smoothly at highway speeds with the Buick drivetrain. The four wheel drum brakes are touchy and if it were mine, I would do a front disc conversion.
Feel free to contact me with any questions and I’ll get back to you ASAP.
