Selling my 2005 Mazda RX-8 Shinka edition (sport tuned suspension and better brakes) with 6-speed manual transmission with a short-throw chrome shifter and an Exedy Stage 2 clutch. Engine swap 9K ago with a JDM Racing motor (from Sunshine State JDM in Orlando), motor now has only about 60K on it; chassis has 122K. Runs really strong, and has a Jet Performance programmer mounted in the glove box for more efficiency and power. Special edition Shinka 2-tone black and red leather interior. Everything works: power moon roof, power locks, remote entry, A/C, cruise control, power seat, windows, heated seats. .everything. It even has the owner's manual.
I have had the original stereo replaced with a double DIN Pioneer BlueTooth system with red dot matrix display that looks like it belongs in the car. Paired with the factory Bose speaker system, it sounds great! I had the modules installed that allow for personalization of the top digital display and full function of the AC control display, as well as the interface to keep the steering wheel controls working for the new stereo. Has 2 hard keys and 2 flip out remote entry FOBs, with RX-8 logo keychains.
Body and paint are in good shape, a few tiny scrapes and 2 minor door dings, but still shines up and looks great, especially for a 12 year old car! Rear spoiler and side accents in front of the rear wheels that are part of the Shinka package are all there. Tires are about 80%, all matching; and silver factory wheels with no major curb rash. I even have a matching factory wheel and tire with TPS sensor installed to go with it.
Upgraded drilled and slotted rotors, new rear struts, new plugs and wires. Recently replaced starter and new battery. Has had the coolant tank replaced with new sensor, both new O2 sensors, and it has a K&N air filter. I run pre-mix at 50:1 to keep the seals good and compression higher; which equals ½ quart of racing 2-stroke oil every fill up. I took the cat off for a while, but with the oil/fuel mixture it smelled strong, so it now has a cat back on it. I have the old engine still to throw in with it, perfect for a rebuild. Engine comes with another almost brand new clutch, another alternator, and A/C compressor.
The negatives: it has to run on 93 octane, the exhaust pipe inserts on the rear bumper are faded, the brake pads are all ceramic but sometimes squeak at low speed stops, and like most RX-8's it sometimes will idle rough but never an issue while under throttle. I'm pretty sure this engine is bridgeported; the exhaust manifold gasket is noticeably newer than the manifold itself on the new engine. This would also explain how strong it runs at high RPMs, but doesn't like to idle well at times, but not often. It was not worth the trouble of taking the exhaust off and on again to find out for sure when swapping the engine, but it is highly likely on a JDM import engine.
This car has been my daily driver for about a year, but it's time for a new project so it's time to let her go. I feel completely comfortable taking her on a long road trip, no issues whatsoever. All in all, it's a lot of car and a lot of extras for the money. Asking $6000 for everything. Clear title in hand and ready to go, come see and drive it and you'll appreciate this car.
1/31/18-update: started a check engine light, had the scan done and it's killed an O2 sensor. I'm not gonna put another one in, they're not too cheap, but I'll knock the price down. Still runs strong, just has that annoying light now. Also, I have the complete exhaust manifold/pipe with the hollowed out cat to include with the car, in case you want that extra 10-15 horsepower. Just take the current one off, bolt the other one on...super easy if you have access to a lift.Price dropped. .as low as I can afford to go after fees. .Please notice my 100% positive feedback of almost 1500...no scams here. Please email with any questions and thanks for looking!ATTN: eBay has just notified me that my vehicle is part of the AirBag recall program. It is a completely free service at any Mazda dealer. I have not gotten it done on my vehicle yet. All you do is call or even go online to make an appointment and the dealer handles everything.
