Thank you for looking at our 1964 Rambler American 440 convertible. The title is clean and the miles are exceeded. The body and the interior we think couldn't be much nicer for a 54 year old car. The underneath of the car is all solid, as seen in the pictures. It has a straight 6 cylinder, 3 speed on the column with an AM Radio that does not work, but we believe it is the factory radio. The tires are good, the brakes are new, the exhaust is fine, the front end is in good shape and it doesn't bounce over bumps. It's just a nice-driving car. The people that we bought the car from just spend over $2000 on it mechanically making it run as nice as it does, and the mechanic said in the future you're going to need a new clutch. He drove last summer with the clutch the way it is, with a brand new clutch, pressure plate, seal, and everything else brand new in the trunk as seen in the pictures. He also took the car to an upholstery shop, and spent $2000 for a brand new convertible top installed, then spent another $200 for the rear window.
The top is power and goes up and down perfectly. When the top goes back, it folds right in place. When the top goes up, it slides directly into the little holes in the front and you pop the clips and the front is closed. It works so well, it may work even better than it did when it was new. Not only does it have a new top and rear window, we also purchased a bran new parade boot still in the box as seen in the pictures. With that boot on the car, driving down the highway, you'll be driving a real classic to the car shows this summer. Maybe this coming winter you may want to bring it to the shop and have the mechanical work done and have the clutch installed. My mechanic gave me a price for $300, but the reason I didn't do it is that the car drives perfectly now. Because this car has a small 6 cylinder, its good on gas and drives really nice on the highway. There's not a lot of these left around and even less in this nice condition. Good luck to all bidders.
