THE REASON SOME OF PHOTOS HAVE BEEN AIR BRUSHED, is for privacy protection. If you feel the car is obstructed in any way and you want a particular view, we will be happy to reshoot the photo in another location.
Following are some statements from the original brochure for the 1958 Nash Metropolitan Convertible. We thought you all might enjoy seeing these statements. This charming brochure will be included in the sale of the car.
Newest motorcar in the world, the Metropolitan, combines polo-pony nimbleness in trafffic with superb comfort... record-breaking economy with sparkling performance. It's a pleasure car that's equally at home in the workaday world.
You who like sports-car dash and verve will, of course, be captivated by the Metropolitan.
It will be hailed by city dwellers, suburbanites - by young modern young mericans who want smartness, comfort, performance and economy in the cars they drive.
It is dashing, road hugging, exciting to drive... proudly-styled, beautifully made... and it handles like a sports car!
No matter where you live or what you do - don't miss the most senstional motoring experiencee of a lifetime... a drive in a Metropolitan Convertible
Following are the claims made regarding performance, from the same interesting brochure. While we cannot stand behind the claims made by the manufacturer, we still thought you would enjoying seeing this information.
EXCLUSIVE NASH AIRFLEX FRONT SUSPENSION, plus low center of gravity and scientific distribution of weight, combine to give the Metropolitan unusual cornering stability and ride control.
HEART OF THE SMART METROPOLITAN is a world-famous, Austin A-40overhead valve engine, delivering 42 horsepower at 4500 RPM. Compression ratio 7.2:1. Proved economy of up to 40 miles to the gallon. The 3-speed syncromesh transmission fully utilizes engine power for top all-around performance.
PARKS IN THE SMALLEST SPACE required by any American car. Turning radius is far less than the average for American automobiles. Drivers especially like the ease with which the Metropolitan can be slipped into a tight parking space with the touch of a fingertip... and appreciate it's extraordinary nimbleness in heavy traffic.
There are many more details about the Metropolitan that you will enjoy reading from the brochure, from which we have quoted above.
Note: the original 42 horsepower engine was converted to 45 horsepower as a result of rebuilding/reboaring of engine. There is also no radio antenna and we do not know if there ever was an antenna.
PAYMENT & SHIPPING: the ONLY forms of payment are PayPal or Wire Transfer. There are ABSOLUTELY NO EXCEPTIONS to the payment options. We will NOT accept checks of any kind, nor will we accept an overpayment on which a refund would be expected. The majority of eBayers are TERRIFIC, but there are some who try to scam everyone with whom they have contact. So, I wish all of you eBayers prosperity and honest success in both buying and selling!
|“ABSOLUTELY MINT CONDITION! This beautiful, convertible Metropolitan, has been kept in climate controlled storage and has ZERO damage from any type of weather conditions or anything else. The vehicle had an entire, wheels up, restoration. It also has complete undercoating. The engine is original, but was rebuilt and has only 1,300 miles since the restoration. We were told at the time of purchase, how many miles were on the vehicle before it's restoration, but we cannot remember and are unable to find that information in our file. A car facts type report might provide additional information.” |
